Six Inexpensive Ways To Refresh Your Living Space

For as long as I could remember decorating and cleaning have always been my thing. I loathe cooking, but wiping down the walls in my home is therapy. My sister-in-law gets a kick out of this because I take it very seriously. That’s just me, anything HGTV, home & style would brighten my day. But, by no means do I consider myself an expert on interior designs. However, being stuck in my home for almost a year has left me wanting a positive cozy environment at all times. The little things such as candles leave me in a happier mood.

My go-to inexpensive home retail stores are Target, Marshall, Home Goods, Urban outfitters home, IKEA, and Nordstrom. On a good sale day, West Elm and Crate & Barrel would also be a contender. I absolutely remember the days when I used to shop at Daffy NY. I was so sad when they went out of business. The above stores are a good replacement for my love for home style.

Here are some fun decorative pieces I use to “spice “ up my living space and you can too without breaking the bank. These small touches would create a sense of comfort and style.

love love this Stand I bought from Target I think over two years ago. I love the tribal contrast it adds to my color scheme. Sometimes I add artistic bowls or leave it bare either way it stands out beautifully. The mirror I got from Ikea for no more than thirty dollars. It should be hanging on the wall but I like it on the floor because I get to move often to different corners of my living room. sometimes, even another room.

Scented candles & Essential oils

who doesn’t love scented candles? Besides their remarkable smell, candles work beautifully as decorations. I usually buy soy candles because they burn evenly, and they’re also safe for the environment. I tend to buy candle jars that would work with my Aesthetic ideas.

My boys love essential oils, my youngest swears that lavender keeps him calm so that he can sleep better at night. Adding an oil diffuser to your home allows good vibes and energy. Again, choose one that would serve as a decorative piece. I found mine at home goods.

Coffee table books

Coffee table books are a must, plus you don’t have to spend money on the brand names fashion books; they all serve the same decor purpose.  Here a trick I usually do when books shopping for my table. I would go into the sale section of Barnes and Noble. I would only check out oversized books and not dwell on their content too much. If I find something where the color is off but the size is perfect, I would purchase it but take the folded cover off.

Ninety-nine percent of the time, the book itself is a solid color and would work as coffee table books. The above books on my coffee table work great with my color scheme, and the content has nothing to do with home & Style. The white one is about Whitney Houston ( R.I.P), whereas the black is all about Volcanoes. Still really nice, yet cost less than twenty dollars. Do this and save while adding style to your home. You can always check out your local book stores.

Plants

Sadly, over the years, plants have not fared well with me as a plant mom. I am trying my green thumb yet again with these beauties. One of which my husband recently bought and insists that’s part of my valentine's gift, Ha!. Hopefully, the plant Gods are looking down on me because I really love seeing some greenery in my home. With added ceramic pots and baskets, this would definitely spruce up your space. Again, I rearrange them all the time as I do with everything thing else. Fresh flowers also brighten the home. I’ve never waited until my husband buys me flowers. I get them at my local grocery store on the days I go food shopping. Add flowers to your grocery list on your next food run.

Decorative pillow and Throw

Here, I did some simple white oversize pillows that I found at Target. To save money but still refresh the look; I also bought decorative pattern pillow covers. Slipping the pillows into the covers every so often change the look of my space. The throw, I must admit, I have a few of; even though I love my living space beautiful. I have to keep in mind I have a family, my kids are under ten. Movie nights are staple in our home, we get to use the throw as a comfy blanket. That’s my favorite part. The above throw was purchase at Marshall’s last Christmas.

Everything I’ve shared so far are decorative pieces in my living room. Let me know if you’ll like me to write more on inexpensive retail decor in my other rooms.
